What does it mean to have a great place to come home to?
My husband and I are celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary, and right now I find myself enjoying the search for the perfect gift - rushing around enjoying the anticipation, but that’s only part of the fun. Giving the perfect gift to that special person, and seeing their happy face really is the best part!
Finding the right house is similar, because it just feels right when you find the match with your budget and lifestyle. You rush around looking at homes and Open Houses every Sunday. Strategize with agents to beat other buyers when you have multiple offers. Negotiate price and repairs when you get into contract, and then finally get to the signing table with a pen that feels like it is made out of lead.
You’ve got the prize, and now the victory is yours. Finding the home is half the battle. Moving in, feeling at home, knowing that you made a great decision, that is the best part.
So, I still haven’t found the best Anniversary gift, but I will know it when I see it. More importantly, I know that the search will be part of the process, and finally enjoying the moment when he unwraps his gift will be the best part.
Appreciating what we’ve got will be the icing on the cake.
